Andrey Onufrievich Bembel is the largest Belarusian sculptor-monumentalist, one of the founders of the professional sculpture school in Belarus and the system of higher art education as a whole, author and co-author of the most important official monuments-symbols of the country: interior wall friezes of the Government House in Minsk (1932-1934), Monument Motherland Belarus (1951-1952), crowning the BSSR pavilion of the Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy in Moscow, the central bronze bas-relief for the Victory Monument (1954) in Minsk, the Mound of Glory (1969) on the 21st km of Minsk-Moscow highway, the Star-shaped entrance to the Brest Hero Fortress Memorial Complex (1971) and many others.
